Tampa, Florida
(Return to Previous Page)
With its temperate climate, exquisite beaches, and central location on Florida's Gulf Coast, Tampa, Florida and the surrounding area has long been a top vacation destination for travelers worldwide. But it wasn't until the last decade or so that Tampa has earned a reputation as a top golf destination as well. Orlando was for Mickey and for golf; Tampa was for fishing and the beach. Today, visitors to Tampa are finding that world-class championship golf and top shelf accommodations go hand in hand with the slower pace the Tampa Bay area offers.
Emerald Greens Private Resort boasts 50 brand new luxury villas and a new clubhouse to go along with 27 holes of championship golf redesigned by course architect Dan Maples. Perfectly suited for golf groups or families, each villa is equipped with all the modern amenities including full kitchens, spacious living areas, and well-appointed bedrooms and baths. Both casual and more formal dining is available on property as well as the Oasis Day Spa and Health Club. Access to the resort is limited to members and those guests staying on resort property ensuring a quite, relaxing vacation at your own private resort.
Another popular choice among golfers, Saddlebrook Resort offers 36 holes of Arnold Palmer designed championship golf nestled inside 480 acres of lush woodlands just 25 minutes north of Tampa. Accommodations include well-appointed guestrooms for two as well as one-, two-, and three- bedroom suites for larger groups. All rooms are located within walking distance to the main resort area which includes a variety of dining options, a world-class spa facility, 45 tennis courts and 500,000-gallon Superpool.
The Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club is one of the premier golf destinations in the United States with four top-ranked courses; fine dining in any of five different restaurants; tennis on 11 beautifully maintained Har-Tru clay courts; six swimming pools including the multi-million-dollar Loch Ness Monster Pool with waterfalls and water slides; a fitness center; a children's recreation center; 60 acres of lakes; plus jogging and cycling opportunities. Guestrooms and suites offer updated amenities including full kitchens, separate living areas, and private balconies or patios. The famous Copperhead Course, annual host to the PGA Tours PODS Championship, is a must play for any avid golfer.
Of course, if you enjoy the flexibility of playing a number of different courses at different venues, Tampa has plenty of championship golf and first-class hotels as options to the areas famed resorts. Courses such as Bardmoor, Bloomingdale, The Eagles, Fox Hollow, Lake Jovita, Lansbrook, Northdale, Plantation Palms, Renaissance, River Hills, TPC at Tampa Bay, Westchase, Walden Lakes (36 holes), and World Woods (36 holes) are all within reasonable driving distance and offer different and unique championship layouts. The Mainsail Suite Hotel, just five minutes from the Tampa International Airport, is always a popular choice as are the Best Western All Suites Hotel, Chase Suite Hotel, Comfort Inn Tampa Stadium, Embassy Suites Westshore, Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, Hampton Inn Suites Tampa North, Holiday Inn Express Tampa Stadium, Lake Jovita Club Villas, Radisson Hotel St. Petersburg, and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
